Introduction

Covesion is a rapidly growing Advanced Manufacturing company at the forefront of Quantum Technology which has been trading since 2009. We have established an international reputation for our solutions across multiple markets, partnering with some of the biggest names in Science and Technology. Our team has many years’ experience in the manufacture of Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate (PPLN) frequency conversion solutions selling to both R&D, and OEM customers. We have a range of stock items that can be delivered at short notice, or we can design custom solutions for our demanding customer base. In the last 5 years we have undergone a transformation growing over 650%.


Location: Unit F3, Adanac North, Adanac Drive, Nursling SO16 0BT, UK.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week flexible between 07:00-18:00 Mon to Thurs, 07:00-14:30 Fridays.
Salary: Circa £50-60k.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will join Covesion’s Product Development Team and report to the General Manager. Working alongside the PD Technical Lead, this role will be responsible for leading and motivating the Product Development Team to meet company objectives. This scope of the Team Leader role will include line management of most of the team members, project management of the development activities, coordinating with the sales and delivery teams on customer lead activities and ensuring all development documentation is kept up to date. The role holder should have attention to detail, demonstrate initiative and enjoy working in a structured but adaptable manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Line management of the Product Development team
  • Project management of the Product Development activities
  • Delivery of the Product Development Roadmap
  • Have input into the company development Roadmap
  • Work closely with the sales and delivery teams on direct customer projects
  • Work closely with the Project Manager ensuring research projects are correctly resourced
  • Troubleshooting and solving problems with facilities where required
  • Develop, implement and maintain product development documentation (full lifecycle).
  • Ensure the Company policies including Health & Safety are adhered to at all times.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

Essential

  • Relevant degree or equivalent knowledge gained through working in a similar industry.
  • Experience of line management a multidisciplinary engineering team to achieve organisational
    objectives.
  • Experience of working within an optical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of Agile project management.
  • Experience of product documentation processes.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to get on with
    stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a proactive and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Can prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
  • Basic understanding of optics, electronic design, mechanical design and coding (firmware and
    software).
  • Highly computer literate: Excel, Word and other Microsoft packages.
  • Clear communication of complex problems.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Reliable and trustworthy.
  • Clean driving licence and own transport.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of optical waveguides, non-linear optics, PPLN and its characteristics, optical AR
    coating technologies.
  • Knowledge of microelectronic/optoelectronic clean room fabrication tools and techniques.
  • Experience in Production environments
  • Exposure to small multidisciplinary team environments.
  • Experience in C/C++/C#, Solidworks and KiCad
